Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Spencer Boys Basketball team wrapped up the regular season Tuesday night at home against North of Sioux City.
The 3-pointer fell early for the Tigers, as they hit 3 of them in the 1st quarter, but slowed down toward the end of the 1st, leading 18-9 going into the 2nd.
It was a rough 2nd quarter for both teams, but a Tiger timeout a little over mid-way through locked some things in for Spencer as they led 29-15 at the half.
In the 3rd quarter, North took advantage of another bumpy period from the Tigers, outscoring Spencer 22-10 to get back within 2 going into the 4th.
The Tigers locked in for the 4th. Good ball movement led to multiple baskets down low for Spencer as they pulled away to win 59-45.
Spencer finishes the regular season at 6-15. Dylan Timmer hit 5 3-pointers in the win on his way to lead the Tigers with 20 points. Foster Roos was also in double figures with 16. The Tigers prepare for their Class 3A Substate 1 Tournament Quarterfinal matchup with the #2 seed and defending State Champions MOC-Floyd Valley on February 23rd at 7:00 in Orange City.
Trey Henry had 14 in the loss to lead the Stars with Max Weerheim hitting 3 3-pointers on his way to 11 points. North finishes the regular season 2-20 and will open up Class 4A Substate 1 Tournament play against the #3 seed West of Sioux City at 7:00 February 23rd at West High.
