Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Spencer City Manager Kevin Robinson opted to have his job performance review in public again this time around.

Human Resources Director Jessica Wright surveyed not only Robinson’s bosses – the Mayor and City council – but his subordinates – city staff. They were asked to rate his effectiveness on a scale of zero to five. The average of the staff surveys came in at 4.5 and the council survey came in at 4.6.

Strengths mentioned by both groups included strong personal skills, the ability to communicate with the citizenry, knowledge of business and government, a solid grip of finances, strong dealings with FEMA, and trustworthiness.

Robinson was also allowed to evaluate himself and modestly gave himself a three.

Filling in the mandatory question of what he could do in the future, the staff and city council told him to delegate more and get out of the office. He said the goal he would set for himself would be to attend more training sessions and network more with other city managers … if he had the time.
