Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The final plan for three Park and Rec projects in Spencer is in the hands of the city council. Bolton and Menck Engineers presented drawings and cost estimates for the Aquatic Center, Splashpad, and Campground.  Park and Rec Director Bob Fullhart say there were no surprises.

Fullhart says there does not appear to be permanent damage to the aquatic center caused by the flood, so an assessment done two years ago seems to be good.

And the engineering study would place a splash pad in the vicinity of the aquatic center to utilize the existing water source.

It’s up to the city council now to prioritize the projects and to figure out funding. Past discussions have indicated the splashpad is a priority, and that several individuals and entities in Spencer would be willing to step up with donations to get it completed.
