Sioux City, Ia (KICD) – A former Spencer Tiger is having great success both on and off the field at Morningside University.

Isaac Pingel is in his Senior year with the Mustangs Football Program and has been the anchor for the #9 ranked team in the NAIA on the defensive side of the football. Pingel has totaled 56 tackles this season with 2 sacks and 4 tackles for loss in 5 games this season for Morningside.

More importantly, Pingel has been named to the 2024 Allstate American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team, one of only two NAIA Football Players to receive the honor.

22 Players across all of College Football are named to the Good Works team. Nearly 200 athletes were nominated for their efforts in community service in the past year. Pingel talked about receiving the award.

Pingel has been on several mission trips to different countries around the World. He talked about what the experience brought him.

For such an exclusive award, Morningside has a reputation for athletes getting named to the Good Works team. Pingel is the 8th Mustang Football player to be selected.

On the Football field, Morningside got off to a rough start, losing their opener to Benedictine at home, but since then Morningside has rattled off 4 wins and prepare for a big stretch of games against rivals. Pingel says he looks forward to the games against ranked rivals such as Northwestern and Dordt.

Morningside plays in the Great Plains Athletic Conference, a league where former Tigers have had a lot of success, specifically in Football. Pingel graduated in 2020, and several players from teams he played on both have played alongside him at Morningside and across the field from him at Northwestern.

Fans can vote for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team Captain at ESPN.com/Allstate once per day through November 15th. Pingel and Morningside will be back on the field for their Homecoming game this weekend against conference foe Hastings.
