Carroll, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Spencer Girls Basketball team traveled to Carroll on Thursday night to take on Kuemper Catholic.

It was a closely contested 1st quarter, with Spencer getting off to a nice start, but Kuemper charging back to take the lead 13-10.

The middle quarters were rough for the Tigers, allowing 27 points while only scoring 9 over that span, and trailed 40-19 going in to the 4th Quarter.

The Tigers were outscored again in the 4th, and Kuemper cruised past Spencer with a 54-31 win.

Kuemper was led in scoring by Elsa Tiefenthaler who scored 21. Karsyn Overmohle was also in double digits for the Knights with 11.

Brynn Merchant led 9 Spencer scorers with 7.

The loss drops Spencer to 3-5 on the year. The Tigers go in to Winter Break now, and will come back with a home matchup against Denison-Schleswig on January 3rd.

Kuemper improves to 3-4 on the season and will travel to Council Bluffs on Saturday where they will match up with a Hawkeye 10 Conference foe in St. Albert.
