Spencer receives $20,000 for childcare planning, thanks to Governor Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Economic Development Authority. In total, almost $200,000 was awarded to 10 Iowa rural communities.

It’s thanks to three Empower Rural Iowa Grant programs. which support rural initiatives including housing, childcare and business/community growth.

Governor Reynolds says these grant opportunities will provide the tools that leaders and innovators need to build vibrant communities in all corners of the state.

The City of Spencer received their money through the Rural Child Care Planning Grant to help determine specific needs and solutions for the city.
