Spencer, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Cash flow is needed for the Spencer Community School District while they wait for FEMA to reimburse them for cleanup and rebuilding projects from the flooding this summer.
The Spencer School Board heard from attorneys at Ahlers & Cooney on Tuesday night about their efforts to secure a 3.3-million-dollar loan for the school.
Superintendent Terry Hemman says they have recieved no money from FEMA or any response to bills already submitted for reimbursment. This keeps the budget needs for the regular school year secure, and gives administration authority to use the money to pay bills as needed. Ahlers & Cooney are continuing to take bids from various banks to find the best rates.
The law firm is also offering their legal services at half their rate for the Spencer Schools due to the flood disaster and all that it has entailed for the district.
