Orange City, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Spencer, Okoboji, Spirit Lake, and a individual qualifier from Storm Lake attended the 3A District Golf Tournament in Orange City at Landsmeer Golf Club on Monday.
The weather was nothing short of brutal, with 50 mph wind gusts at times mixed in with some overcast skies, scattered showers, and cooler temperatures. Spencer’s Harrison Daniels talked about how the Tigers delt with the elements.
It worked well for Daniels, as the Sophomore scored a 79, good for 8 over Par and a 7th overall finish.
The rest of the Spencer team handled the wind and cold enough to combine for a 42 over Par team score. That gave the Tigers a second-place finish, behind top ranked MOC-Floyd Valley’s 24 over Par score. Webster City would snag the last State Qualifying spot in 3rd with a 46 over Par.
Poor elements are what Landsmeer thrives on in order to be a challenging course.
Jaizik Miller of Spirit Lake was 6th with a 79 with his team placing 6th.
Storm Lake’s Individual qualifier, Charlie Dvergsten, scored an 82, taking 14th.
