Marshalltown, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Girls High School State Swimming Championships fired up 11:00 on Friday. The Spencer Area Swim Team Qualified 6 events and are hoping to make some noise in the team standings with a lot of those events having a shot at scoring points.

Two different relays will be competing, the Medley Relay and the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, which both consist of a combination of Ava Vogt, Ella Kasperbauer, Lily Gross, and Halle Sears. Ava Vogt talked about the Tigers preparation these past few weeks for Postseason Meets.

Halle Sears will be in both the Individual Medley and the 100 Yard Butterfly. The Freshman is seeded in the top 5 for both events. Sears was happy with her draw for Lanes in those races.

A duo of Spencer Swimmers are in teh 100 Yard Breaststroke. Lilly Gross has qualified before in this event and is hoping the experience can help lift her to the podium.

Ella Kasperbauer also qualified in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. Kasperbauer and Gross have elevated each other in the event for a long time.

The Preliminary Swimming Meet began 11:00 on Friday. The Finals will race Noon on Saturday.
