Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Spencer hosted the IGHSAU Class 1A Individual Region 4 Tournament on Monday at the Riverview Tennis Courts.
In the singles Tournament, Spencer’s Dakoda Lux lost 2 sets to 0 against St. Edmond of Fort Dodge’s Lauren Gibb.
Jill Kabrick picked up a 2 sets to 0 win against Cherokee’s Ava Bouchard in the first round. Kabrick would fall in the Quarterfinals to Sergeant Bluff-Luton’s Camryn Glass.
In the Doubles Tournament, Spencer’s Crew and Ewalt fell to Cherokee’s Anderson and Volkert in the first round.
The #1 seed Doubles team of Kennedy Graettinger and Brynn Merchant of Spencer topped Estherville Lincoln Central’s Reineke and Thelen 2 sets to 0 before going into ultimate tiebreaker against Sergeant Bluff-Luton’s winter and Guntren where they won 6-4 to move on to the Semifinals.
Graettinger and Merchant would get past Webster City’s Gallentine and Hackborth in the semifinals, winning a tiebreaker in the 2nd set 7-5 to win 2 sets to 0.
They would clash with Spirit Lake/Okoboji’s Strucker and Kleckner in the Championship, pulling off the win and advancing to the State Doubles Tournament.
