Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Spencer Boys Tennis team hosted the District individual District Tournament at Riverside on Wednesday.
In the Singles Tournament, Spencer’s Ade Thomas picked up 2 sets to 0 win over Caiden Heitritter of Le Mars. In the Quarterfinals, Thomas fell to John-Paul Judice of Bishop Heelan (SC) 2 sets to 0.
Spencer’s Cole McDanel won 2 sets to 0 against Gerrit DeVos of Cherokee in the first round before dropping to Easton Lubarski of Bishop Heelan (SC) two sets to nothing.
For the Doubles Tournament, the Spencer team of Sherrod and Moeller picked up a 2-0 win over Kohn and Ruschman of Cherokee. The Tiger Pair would win in a tiebreaker 10-5 in upset fashion against Bishop Heelan (SC)’s Scott and Stanek. They would then fall to the #1 seed Myers and Wright of Sergeant Bluff-Luton in the Semifinals before an 8-1 loss at the hands of Spirit Lake/Okoboji’s Profit and Schneider.
The other Spencer doubles team of Gerlock and Thomas beat Carey and Hoskinson of Cherokee in a tiebreaker 7-1. They would lose to the eventual 3rd place team Profit and Schneider of Spirit Lake/Okoboji.
