Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Spencer hosted their Co-Ed Track and Field Invitational on Thursday at Dale Norton Field.
It was all Spirit Lake in the Boys 3200m with Carter Trautman winning with a time of 10:59.71. Trautman talked about his training groups success on the year and in previous seasons.
Spirit Lake would sweep the 100m Dash races. Anabel Sinz took 1st with a time of 13.17 with teammate Anthea Leupold in 2nd at 13.26. Sinz enjoys competing head-to-head with her training partner.
Kyle Grau was 1st in the Boys 100m Dash. Spirit Lake shared the 2025 2A State Track and Field Championship with Okoboji. Grau talked about the Spirit Lake boys coming back strong in 2026.
GTRA’s Caleb Swedin took 1st in the 100m Hurdles for the Titans with a time of 15.44 seconds. Swedin edged out Spencer’s Jivahny Lovan by 3/10ths of a second.
Rachel Schany of Emmetsburg won the Girls 800m Run with a time of 2:28.84. Schany used the wind advantage for the first 200 meters.
In the Girls 200m Dash, Miley Wells of Spirit Lake was the winner with a time of 26.88. Wells’ mom was in attendance, and she feels she runs better when she is there.
Spirit Lake’s Leah Bolluyt edged out Spencer’s Lucy Simington in the Girls 400m Hurdles with a time of 1:07.42. It is always a fun race when the two go to battle.

McKenna Beck of Spirit Lake was the winner in the Girls Discus throw with a mark of 120’5”.
Emmetsburg’s Rachel Schany won the girls high jump at 5’4”.
With a leap of 18’0”, Anabel Sinz of Spirit Lake won the Long Jump.
In the Girls 800m Sprint Medley Relay, Spirit Lake’s team of Wells, Leupold, Bolluyt, and Sinz won with a time of 1:51.68.
For the Girls 3000m Run, Silvia Kampbell of Storm Lake won with a time of 11:33.5.
Spirit Lake won the Girls 4x800m Relay with a time of 10:14.28.
In the Girls 4x100m Shuttle Hurdle Relay, Spencer’s team of Simington, Kunath, Eilts, and Stuckey won with a time of 1:12.07.
For the Girls 4x200m Relay, Spencer’s team of Reynolds, Hopkins, Krieg, and Simington won with a time of 1:46.08.
Leah Bolluyt of Spirit Lake won the 100m Hurdles with a time of 15.7 seconds.
In the Girls 1500m Run, Silvia Kampbell of Storm Lake picked up another victory with a time of 5:17.35.
For the Girls 4x100m Relay, Spencer’s Reynolds, Hopkins, Robbins, and Krieg combined for a 1st place time of 50.33 seconds.
Spirit Lake’s Girls 4x400m Relay team of Bruinsma, Trautman, Mueting, and Petersen was 1st with a time of 4:18.57.
In the Boys 200m Dash, Kyle Grau won with a time of 22.88 seconds.
For the Boys 400m Dash, Tate VonEhwegen of Spencer picked up the win with a time of 50.31 seconds.
Caleb Swedin of GTRA ran 57.04 seconds in the 400 Hurdles for the win.
In the Boys 800m Run, Carter Trautman of Spirit Lake clocked 2:07.42 for a first-place finish.
For the Boys 1600m Run, Jace Hungerford of Spirit Lake won with a time of 4:46.16.
Spirit Lake’s Boys 800m Sprint Medley Relay team of Higgins, Bolluyt, Grau, and Hagedorn clocked 1:35.52 to win.
In the Boys 1600m Distance Medley Relay, Spirit Lake ran a first-place time of 3:49.59 with a team of Riordan, Orpen, Lalumendre, and Hungerford.
For the Boys 4x100m Relay, GTRA won with a time of 44.26, made up of a team of Schnell, Harris, Ness, and Swedin.
The Okoboji Boys 4x200m Relay team of Stein, Heller, Graves, and Wright was 1st with a time of 1:30.25.
In the Boys 4x110m Shuttle Hurdle Relay, Spirit Lake won with a team of Hagedorn, Jalas, Plenychko, and Nebelsick clocking 1:05.14.
For the Boys 4x400m Relay, Okoboji’s Wright, Heller, Wolf, and Graves won with a time of 3:27.35.
Spencer’s Boys 4x800m Relay team of Anderson, Rodriguez, Koppie, and Rustad won with a time of 8:31.6.
In the Boys Discus Throw, Jax Bejarno of Spirit Lake won with a distance of 165’4”.
For the Boys High Jump, Tate VonEhwegen of Spencer was the winner with a height of 6’4.5”.
Carson Storey of Okoboji was the winner in the Boys Long Jump with a mark of 21’0”.
In the Boys Shot Put, Jackson Knutson of Spirit Lake was the winner with a toss of 51’3”.
Spirit Lake won the Girls team title with 172 points. Spencer was 2nd with 101 and Bishop Garrigan of Algona took 3rd with 69. Emmetsburg was 4th, Storm Lake 6th, Okoboji 7th, and Estherville Lincoln Central took 8th.
Spirit Lake also took the boys team title with 191 points. Spencer was 2nd with 104.5 and Okoboji took 3rd with 100.5. GTRA would finish 5th.
