SPIRIT LAKE, IA (Northwestiowanow) The Spirit Lake Board of Education has found a new director to fill a vacancy Monday night.

A special meeting was held May 18 to consider and take action to fill the vacant director’s seat after President Teresa Beck’s resignation a few weeks ago.

The council reviewed 3 applicants and ultimately voted on Brandon Meyer.

Board of Education President Jeremy Mouw says it was a tough decision.

He says Meyer has a strong local connection to the Spirit Lake community already.

Meyer tells KICD, he is looking forward to working with the board.

Brandon Meyer’s term as Director runs from 2026 to 2027.
