Spirit Lake, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — All Dickinson County employees and elected officials will get a 3 percent raise in the fiscal year starting July 1st.
The vote by the Board of Supervisors Tuesday was not unanimous.
Supervisor Kim Wermerson had suggested a three and one-half percent.
Supervisor Steve Clark did not second Wermerson’s motion but said it was not out of line.
Supervisor Levi Markwardt said he feels the five supervisors should forgo a raise in the upcoming budget.
Wermerson, Clark, and Bill Leopold voted for the across-the-board raise; Markwardt and Supervisor Steve Dullard voted no.
Elected official’s salaries used to be determined separately in the state of Iowa until the legislature allowed counties to disband their compensation commissions.
