Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The Downtown Resource Center – a division of Iowa Economic Devleopment – has completed a three-day study and walk-around in Sheldon.
Director Jim Engle says first and foremost, the historic buildings in downtown appear to be in good shape.
And in a positive that many cities would envy, a full 50 percent of the upstairs apartments in Sheldon are currently occupied.
Engle tells KICD News his design team recommends new signage as an easy project.
Long-term the Downtown Resource Center recommends Sheldon develop a core group to plan downtown events, and a long-term plan to find buyers for business owners nearing retirement.
