Storm Lake, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — On Monday the Storm Lake City Council members had a field trip to the Storm Lake Municipal Airport. At a recent council meeting, an Apron Expansion project for the airport was approved and the Airport Commission along with partners Bolton and Menk gave them a visual update on what expanding the “apron” means, and why now is a good time to get it done. Gary Jacobs with Bolten and Menk:

Jacobs says the city of Storm Lake has accrued airport improvement funding over the last five years and with bipartisan infrastructure law funding available now, they are able to combine those two funds and get started on designing already last fall.

Jacobs says the apron expansion will allow more space and easier flow for multiple aircraft in the apron space, and rough estimate for finishing the project is Spring 2027.
