Storm Lake, IA (Northwest Iowa Now) — Storm Lake police have charged a man for allegedly assaulting a pedestrian with a machete early Monday morning.
They were called to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center around 6:40 where they interviewed a patient suffering from serious injuries to their upper body. That individual claims to have been assaulted in the 300 block of West 7th Street that morning.
Authorities located the alleged assailant – 26-year-old Ovidio Saul Cortez Bermudez – at a residence in the 700 block of Geneseo Street around 9am and took him into custody without incident.
Cortez Bermudez has been charged with Willful Assault causing Serious Injury and Going Armed with Intent.
