Storm Lake, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Storm Lake residents will have a new opportunity to make their voices heard at the ballot box this fall. A special city election has been called to fill a vacant seat on the city council.
The special election is being held to fill the seat vacated by longtime council member Kevin McKinney, who stepped down after seven years of service. McKinney cited health challenges in his decision to leave his post after the September 2nd council meeting.
For those interested in a spot on the council, nomination papers are available at Storm Lake City Hall, the Buena Vista County Auditor’s Office, or online. Candidates must be a city resident and gather at least 50 signatures. All forms must be submitted by 5 p.m. this Thursday.
Election Day is Tuesday, November 4th.
