STORM LAKE, IA (Northwestiowanow) — A Storm Lake man was arrested Thursday night following a police investigation into a forged check incident.
On Thursday, November 6, in the 500 block of Russell Street, Storm Lake Police located 50-year-old Jose Sevilla Perez Jr. around 8:50 p.m. He was wanted on a warrant from Buena Vista County for Forgery, a Class D Felony, and Theft in the 4th Degree, a serious misdemeanor.
The charges stem from an incident on October 17 at the El Mexicano II, where police allege Sevilla Perez Jr. used a forged check belonging to another individual to obtain $360 in cash and merchandise. The report was filed with police on October 21.
He was transported to the Buena Vista County Jail and held on a $500 bond.
During the arrest, officers discovered a crystalline substance on Sevilla Perez Jr.’s person. Additional charges may be filed following lab analysis.
