Storm Lake, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — A Storm Lake man has been charged with OWI after leading police on a chase through town.

Authorities tried to stop 45 year old Fernando Morales Valentin Monday night around 9pm in the 1000 block of Lake Avenue. They say he drove through a red light and didn’t stop until he arrived at a residence in the 400 block of Terrence Street.

Assistant Storm Lake Police Chief Patrick Diekman says Valentin physically resisted officers at the scene. After he was forcefully taken into custody he was charged with 1st offense OWI, eluding, interference with official acts, and six traffic violations.

Following the investigation Valentin was charged with 1st degree harassment for allegedly threatening to kill a family member the previous day.
