Storm Lake, IA (northwestiowanow) — A Storm Lake man faces two decades in prison after pleading guilty to two felony charges involving a child.

According to court records, 34-year-old Sergio Montejano Rendon had sexual contact with a girl under the age of 14 at a Storm Lake residence in December of 2025. Records also state a second girl under the age of 14 was present, and prosecutors alleged Rendon grabbed her arm and attempted to pull her onto a bed.

Storm Lake Police received a report of the allegations March 11th and launched an investigation. Rendon was arrested the following day.

He was initially charged with second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony, but that charge was amended to lascivious acts with a child, a Class C felony, as part of a negotiated plea. Rendon was also convicted of a second Class C felony count of lascivious acts with a child.

Rendon was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Following his prison term, he will be subject to a special lifetime sentence and will be required to register as a sex offender in Iowa.
