Storm Lake, IA — The City of Storm Lake has implemented mandatory water conservation measures.
Effective immediately, the move comes as two city wells remain out of service for repairs and testing while water demand continues to approach capacity.
The mandatory restrictions apply to residents and businesses in Storm Lake, Lakeside, Lake Creek, and Truesdale. The city previously requested voluntary conservation, but usage has remained high.
Under the order, lawn watering is prohibited between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., residential vehicle washing is restricted from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the use of water to clean driveways and sidewalks is also prohibited.
Pool refills and power washing projects require city approval and must be scheduled during lower-demand periods.
The mandatory conservation measures will remain in effect until further notice. The city says violations of the restrictions may result in municipal infraction penalties.
