Storm Lake, Iowa (Northwestiowanow.com) — The Storm Lake Police Department received 89 911 calls in March, up from 66 in March of 2024: They included ten thefts, five assaults, five drug complaints, two calls concerning firearms, and one burglary.

Police Chief Chris Cole says there were 36 arrests: Eight assaults, three sexual assaults, eleven drug cases, and one burglary. There was only one juvenile arrest during the month and that was for disorderly conduct.

There were 11 welfare checks and four missing persons. Storm Lake Police also performed 606 traffic stops, covered 30 motor-vehicle accidents, and provided 143 motorist assists.
