Storm Lake, IA (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Alerts of “heavy police presence” went out on their Facebook page Friday afternoon, February 6 when Storm Lake Police responded to a mental health-related call involving threats with a firearm.

The report states SLPD negotiators worked to persuade the individual to exit the residence safely, with one firearm recovered at the scene. Police report the individual is now getting the assistance they need and remind the community help is available if you know someone struggling with a mental health crisis.
