Storm Lake, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — Storm Lake Community School District has been awarded up to $20,000 by the Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council and the State Department of Education. This grant aims to significantly expand career-connected opportunities for students this summer. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics.

The funding is part of a unique pilot program, STEM BEST Explore, designed to offer work-based learning and real-world STEM experiences. Students in Storm Lake, ranging from 4th through 12th grades, will be able to participate in innovative work-based learning courses.

Storm Lake is one of 12 STEM BEST Program model partner schools that collectively received over $200,000 in awards from state officials.
