SPENCER, IA (Northwestiowanow) – The Spencer community continues to remember former Spencer Fire Chief Doug Duncan.

On Tuesday, the three Kiwanis clubs in Spencer—the Daybreakers, Hy-Noon, and After Five clubs—came together to present a $600 donation to Spencer Fire-Rescue in memory of Duncan.

Deputy Fire Chief Mark Stover says Duncan was a leader who led by example.

Stover says Duncan’s dedication to serving others left a lasting impact on both the department and the Spencer community.

Before retiring from Spencer Fire-Rescue in 2006, Duncan also spent 27 years as an active member of Kiwanis, where he was known for encouraging others to get involved in community service.

Stover says Duncan will be remembered not only for his leadership, but also for his generosity and commitment to helping others.

Efforts are now underway to create a community tribute honoring Duncan’s legacy while encouraging future generations to follow his example through volunteerism and service.
