Pocahontas, IA (KICD) — For the second time this summer a subject led Pocahontas County authorities on a high-speed chase and got away after fleeing into a corn field.

Tuesday morning the Humboldt County Sheriff’s department started to pursue a flatbed truck on highway 3 after a deputy observed erratic driving. The Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Department set up stop sticks near the N-65 intersection between Humboldt and Gilmore City. The driver – still unidentified – then drove into a farm drive and drove through corn and soybean fields for about a mile before he got stuck.

After he ran into tall corn, a perimeter was set up and drones were brought in, but he was never found.

The truck was reported missing from Story County earlier in the day. Personal items inside have been sent to the Iowa DCI lab in Ankeny for testing.
