ALGONA, IA (Northwestiowanow) — The Algona Community School District has cancelled classes after receiving a bomb threat.
Earlier this morning, Friday, October 24, district officials coordinated with the Kossuth County Sheriff’s Department, Algona Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies to investigate a threat of an explosive device in one of their buildings.
Safety protocols were immediately activated, and all school buildings were cleared as a precaution.
Authorities later determined that the threat was similar to others reported across the country, suggesting a broader pattern of false reports targeted at schools.
No injuries were reported, and the investigation remains ongoing.
The district plans to announce an update later today regarding scheduled events, including the Senior Night football game against Bishop Heelan.
