SANBORN, IA (Northwestiowanow) — A suspicious vehicle west of Sanborn led to drug charges for two Cherokee men Monday morning.
On October 27, deputies with the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle around 9:00 a.m. A 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse was found parked with its hazard lights flashing near the intersection of Polk Avenue and Highway 18. A caller reported that the driver appeared to be asleep behind the wheel.
Deputies identified the driver as 40-year-old John Anthony Bandomo, who was found asleep in the driver’s seat. In the passenger seat was 33-year-old Frank Michele Bandomo, who was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant related to violations as a registered sex offender.
Frank Bandomo faces charges including possession of methamphetamine and psilocybin mushrooms, both third or subsequent offenses, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to affix a drug tax stamp.
A search of the vehicle revealed multiple drug-related items, including glass methamphetamine pipes, a plastic container with meth residue, and a bag of psilocybin mushrooms wrapped in a red bandanna.
John Bandomo was charged with possession of methamphetamine, third or subsequent offense, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
During booking at the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar, deputies recovered additional meth and mushrooms, along with a blue metal straw containing residue.
