Sutherland, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — A recent report claims a Sutherland man is facing several felony charges after allegedly assaulting two women and engaging in a standoff with police.
Authorities arrested 35-year-old Devon Lee Jones on October 26th. The report says Jones allegedly entered a Sutherland home, then punched and choked a woman, causing serious injuries and causing her to black out.
Minutes later, Jones allegedly went to a second woman’s property, dragged her across the yard, and hit her with his fist and a crescent wrench. She also sustained serious injuries.
When police arrived, Jones reportedly barricaded himself in his house on Main Street, claimed to have a gun, and threatened officers.
Authorities eventually found Jones in an upstairs bathroom. He allegedly pointed a crossbow at them. After a Taser attempt missed, officers rushed Jones and took him into custody.
Jones was hospitalized overnight after claiming he had taken pills.
He now faces charges including first-degree burglary, assault while participating in a felony, and intimidation with a dangerous weapon.
