Hartley, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Law enforcement in O’Brien County have reported a number of arrests after violent threats in recent weeks. Hartley police charged a local man with interference with official acts for an incident involving a hatchet. Authorities were called to the home of 22-year-old Joshua Cole at 10 South 3rd Avenue East on March 6th. The officer says Cole threw a hatchet off of his porch and then tried to retrieve it several times during their conversation. The report says Cole also resisted arrest and scuffled with the officer before being taken into custody.

Last Monday a Hartley man was arrested after allegedly yelling death threats out of a car window. Police say 39-year-old Tracy Maurice claimed to have been somewhere else, but a tracking device on his ankle confirmed he had been in the neighborhood. He was charged with 1st degree harassment and two parole violations. A judge also issued a no contact order with the other individual involved.

And a LeMars man was charged with 1st degree harassment Friday after allegedly texting a Sanborn resident “I will kill you.” A warrant was issue for the arrest of 45-year-old Martin Antonio Eady on March 11th. He was arrested in Plymouth County Friday and transported to O’Brien County.
