Storm Lake, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — Three Storm Lake juveniles have been charged following an attempted burglary earlier this week.
Officers with the Storm Lake Police Department were called to a home in the 1100 block of North Ontario Street on September 3rd after receiving a report of an attempted break-in that had occurred the previous day.
According to police, the homeowner reported that three suspects came to the residence at approximately 8 p.m. on September 2nd and attempted to gain entry by kicking the front door. The suspects were unable to get inside and left the area before authorities were notified.
Investigators later identified the suspects as three Storm Lake juveniles ages 11, 12, and 13.
Each juvenile was charged with Attempted Burglary in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony; Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, an aggravated misdemeanor; and First-Offense Trespassing, a simple misdemeanor.
Police say the door sustained approximately $750 in damage.
All three juveniles were referred to juvenile court and released to the custody of their parents or guardians pending further proceedings.
