Lake Park, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Fire officials from Lake Park will get a better look at the extent of a large outdoor fire that spread in heavy winds yesterday.
It appears it originated at 1631 170th Street in Dickinson County – three miles East and two miles South of town. Lake Park was dispatched mid-afternoon and called for backup from Spirit Lake and Milford. It appears there are no injuries and no damage to homes or out buildings. We believe at least one residence was evacuated as a precaution.
We’re also told there was a large field fire South of Terril in the vicinity of 270th Street and 320th Avenue Wednesday. Fire crews from Terril, Fostoria, Ruthven, Graettinger, and Wallingford were called. Eyewitnesses say farms with discs started to work ground in an effort to prevent the fire from spreading in dry vegetation.
