Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Spencer hosted their girls invitational Track meet on Thursday at Dale Norton Field with 6 KICD 9-County Area teams in attendance.
The Tigers were able to start out on the Track with a 1st and 2nd result in the 3000m run. Ava Morey went 12:43.1 to finish first and Ava Haldin took 3rd at 13:03.55. Morey dissected the race well.
Rachel Schaney continued her dominance on the Track as well as the Field. The E-Hawk won the Long Jump and 400m dash. Schaney will participate in the two jumping events at the Drake Relays. After placing in the 400m Dash at State last year, Schaney still would like to perfect her start.
The Okoboji 4x200m and 4x100m relay combo not only finished first in both races but tore down long-standing meet records in those events. In the 4x100m Relay. Alivia Avery, Riley Meyer, Miley Wells, and Krishauna Allen in that order ran 50.12 seconds. It went Avery, Meyer, Wells Allen in the 4x200m Relay for a time of 1:46.62. This combo had a successful year last year and are looking for big things in 2025 as Riley Meyer talked about their chemistry.
Okoboji coach Eric Clouse talked about some of the good things he saw from his team.
Spencer’s Sydney Hopkins also toppled an over 40-year-old record in the 200m Dash, finishing first in 25.64 seconds.
Spencer came away with the team title with 137 points, edging out Spirit Lake in 2nd with 134. Estherville Lincoln Central was 3rd, Okoboji 4th, Storm Lake 5th and Emmetsburg in a tie with them.
