Ruthven, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The GTRA Titans dominated wire-to-wire Thursday night in Ruthven as they hosted 8-Player District 1 foes St. Edmond of Fort Dodge.
The Titans posted a pair of scores in the first quarter, but would explode in the second, outscoring the Gaels 38-12, taking a 52-12 lead into the half.
With the clock running in the second half, GTRA added two more scored early in the 3rd quarter, and came away with a 66-12 route.
The Titans had some very impressive individual performances. Brooks Hanson completed 11 of 17 passes for 179 yards and 3 Touchdowns with no interceptions while carrying the ball 5 times for 16 yards. Hanson also had an interception and fumble recovery on defense. The Sophomore would take that fumble back to the endzone for one of two defensive scores on the evening for GTRA. Jaxson Nock had 10 carries on the evening for 114 yards and a pair of scores. Landen Deitrich also scored twice on rushing Touchdowns. Cayden Wilson had a dominant evening at the receiver position for the Titans, catching 9 passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
Defensively, GTRA forced 5 Turnovers, the 1 fumble that was taken back for a Touchdown by Hanson, and then 4 interceptions. Hanson had 1, Hunter Manwarren picked off a pass and took it back for a touchdown himself, and Oakly Joyce came in to pick off two passes. Up front, Brady Harris sacked the St. Edmond Quarterback, Thomas Ehn 3 times.
GTRA outgained the Gaels 407-201 offensively. 130 of St. Edmond’s 201 offensive yards came on a pair of 65-yard Touchdown passes. Otherwise, the Titans shut down the Gael rushing attack, allowing only 4 yards on 18 carries.
St. Edmond’s Thomas Ehn completed 8 of his 17 passes for 197 yards and 2 Touchdowns with 4 Interceptions.
Up next for the Titans is a road trip to 8-Player #10 ranked Kingsley-Pierson while St. Edmond hits the road to play Harris Lake Park. GTRA improves to 3-3 on the year and 2-1 in 8-Player District 1. The Gaels are now 2-4 and 1-2 in the district.
