Ames, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – Storm Lake competed at the Gilbert IHSAA & IGHSAU Cross Country State Qualifying site.
In the girl’s race, it was Ballard’s Annika Larson winning with a time of 18:47.1. Storm Lake’s Silvia Kampbell qualified for the State meet, running a time of 19:14.7 to place 7th.
Sioux Center won the girls race as a team with 54 points, Gilbert was 2nd at 72, and MOC-Floyd Valley totaled 80 points to place 3rd. Storm Lake was 8th with 210.
Gilbert flexed in the boy’s race. Carson Squiers blazed to a 1st place time of 15:12.5. The Tigers took the top 5 spots in the race individually. Storm Lake’s Joel Ramirez-Parra was 7th at 16:04.3 and will move on to the State meet.
Gilbert won the meet with a ridiculous 15 points. Sioux Center was 2nd with 82, and MOC-Floyd Valley took 3rd at 101. Storm Lake finished 5th with 135.
