ESTHERVILLE, IA (Northwestiowanow) – A traffic stop late Thursday night west of Estherville led to drug charges against an Estherville woman.

According to the Emmet County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy stopped a 2015 Kia Sorento shortly after 11:30 p.m. August 13 on Highway 9 near 360th Avenue because of a faulty fog light.

Authorities say the driver, 46-year-old Holly Knott of Estherville, consented to a search of the vehicle. During the search, the deputy allegedly found two THC vape pens inside Knott’s purse.

Court records show Knott was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, marijuana, second offense, a serious misdemeanor.

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for September 3 at 4 p.m. in Emmet County District Court.
