Okoboji, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The well-used pedestrian bridge linking the north and south sides of East Lake Okoboji is closed for safety upgrades. DNR Park Supervisor Mike Weiss says some parts simply wear out, especially those constructed of wood.
Dickinson County Trail Director Erin Reed appreciates the attention to the bridge linking Arnolds Park and Okoboji and hopes it can be further enhanced in upcoming construction seasons.
Reed says during construction bikers can follow the signs or find a detour map on the Dickinson County Trails Facebook page.
The last train freight train traveled over that trestle bridge in the 1970s.
