Northwest Iowa Now wishes to correct a detail of the story we published earlier this week about an apparent drowning in Okoboji.

We mistakenly reported the fishermen who found the body of 27 year old Gilman Cooper in Smith’s Bay pulled him from the water. Arnolds Park / Okoboji Fire Chief Chris Yungbluth confirmed today that while the fishermen made the discovery and alerted emergency officials, it was the dive team that made the recovery.

Other details are not being released as the situation remains under investigation by the Arnolds Park and Okoboji police departments and Dickinson County Sheriff’s department. We regret the mistake in our original reporting.
