Dakota County, Nebraska (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — There is a tragic update to a fatal crash reported earlier this month in northeast Nebraska.
The Dakota County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a four-year-old boy involved in the accident has died from his injuries.
The child was a passenger in a Jeep driven by 32-year-old Elsa Pena-Lopez of Dakota City when they were struck by a wrong-way driver on Highway 77 near the Kingsbury Interchange on November 16th.
The boy had been flown to an Omaha hospital in critical condition but has passed away.
The driver of the other vehicle—38-year-old Nei Doh Htoo of Storm Lake—was driving north in the southbound lanes and died at the scene.
Pena-Lopez was treated for her injuries and released. The accident remains under investigation.
