Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — After the Spencer City council’s decision to fill the Ward 4 vacancy by appointment earlier this year was overturned by a petition calling for a special election, they have voted unanimously to hold a special election to fill a new vacancy in Ward 5.
Councilman Chuck Illg was elected in November, took office in January, and resigned abruptly last week without stating a reason.

In a special meeting that took less than five minutes, councilmembers Amy Moser and David Lyons were the only two to speak.

We’ll let you know when the date for the special election is set by the Clay County Auditor’s office.
