In Non-Conference play on Thursday, Storm Lake lost to West Monona 10-1, Spencer edged out Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley 6-5, Estherville Lincoln Central shutout Emmetsburg 13-0, South O’Brien got past Cherokee 8-7, MMCRU fell short to Unity Christian of Orange City 3-2, North Union dropped to Clear Lake 7-6, Alta-Aurelia outscored Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 13-9, Newell-Fonda lost to Humboldt 7-6, and St. Mary’s of Storm Lake was roughed up by MVAOCOU 16-0.
For the Siouxland Conference, Okoboji was rolled by MOC-Floyd Valley 16-0
The Twin Lakes Conference had GTRA come out on top against Sioux Central 15-12 and Pocahontas Area route Manson-Northwest Webster 11-1.

In non-conference play, Spencer rolled past Sioux Central 16-1, Newell-Fonda lost to Ridge View 14-2, Emmetsburg was edged out by Humboldt 7-6, and Pocahontas Area mercied Manson-Northwest Webster in quick work for Twin Lakes Conference action, 15-0.
For Postseason Baseball on Saturday, Class 1A and 2A opened up their Substate Tournaments.
Class 1A Substate 1 had Sibley-Ocheyedan lose to Kingsley-Pierson 3-1, Alta-Aurelia fall to George-Little Rock 9-3, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn was routed against Akron-Westfield 11-1, and South O’Brien was shut-out by Gehlen Catholic of Le Mars 5-0.
In Class 1A Substate 2, GTRA beat North Union 5-4 and will advance to play Bishop Garrigan of Algona at 7:00 on Tuesday in Algona for the Substate Quarterfinals.
For Class 1A Substate 8, Newell-Fonda edged out IKM-Manning 6-5 and will advance to play CAM in Anita at 7:00 on Thursday.
Class 2A Substate 2 had Sioux Central outscore Sheldon 12-9. The Rebels advance to the Substate Quarterfinals to play top-seeded Spirit Lake at 7:00 on Tuesday.
The Minnesota Twins started off a weekend set on Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays, picking up a 4-3 win. Louie Varland got the win with Kevin Kelly absorbing the loss for Tampa. Minnesota clinched the series on Saturday, Johan Duran picked up the win in relief as the Twins won 6-5 and Garrett Cleavinger took the Loss for the Rays. Minnesota wasn’t able to complete what would’ve been a nice sweep to have as they fell 7-5 in 10 innings on Sunday.
