West Bend, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — A West Bend man who struck a semi with his pickup Monday night in Palo Alto County was taken to the hospital in Emmetsburg with undisclosed injury.

The Iowa State Patrol says 57-year-old Denton Knobloch was Northbound on 500th Street Southwest of town when he entered the intersection with 525th Avenue and struck the trailer of an Eastbound semi driven by 32-year-old Jacob Banwart of Rolfe. His vehicle was dragged for a short distance before the trailer became detached and struck a utility pole.

The accident report says Knobloch was not wearing a safety belt. Banwart was not injured. The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.

The accident occurred around 7pm.
