The Emmet County Sheriff’s Department has charged two individuals with possession of illegal substances.

An Emmet County man has been sentenced to a year and a half in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

K9 was deployed and indicated to the odor of Marijuana from the vehicle Officers conducted a probable cause search and located various marijuana products and drug paraphernalia.

A Laurens woman has received her sentence after pleading guilty to forgery back in July.

47-year-old Craig Merrill was sentenced to deferred judgement

61-year-old Carl Leggett was taken into custody near Dickens about 3am on September 7th.

A Sanborn man has pled guilty in federal court after the robbery of a bank in Sanborn on January 22nd of this year. 40 year – old Del Martinez Evans Jr. is accused of robbing the Sanborn Savings Bank earlier this year. Evans was first charged with second degree theft and 2nd degree robbery, and he chose to plead not guilty however those charges were dismissed after federal charges of robbery by forests or violence were filed against Evans.

U.S. District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand this week sentenced a Sheldon woman to nine years in federal prison for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl in Northwest Iowa.

Sydney and Brenan Schneidermann of Little Rock were taken into custody Saturday without incident.
