Note: This trip requires walking shoes!  We travel like a local — mostly by bus, train, subway and on foot! You’ll get the full European experience!

Tuesday, August 12:
Flight to London

Wednesday, August 13:
Arrive in London / check in at hotel.
3pm Discover the life and legacy of Winston Churchill in the bunker and museum hidden beneath the streets at the Churchill War Rooms.
Stroll through the famous flower beds of St. James Park.

Thursday, August 14:
9am Depart hotel to 10 Downing Street (Home to the British Prime Minister)
10am Visit the Household Cavalry Museum 
11am View the Queen’s Horse Guards Parade
Tour both Houses of Parliament. Explore the Gothic Abbey Church of Westminster Abbey.
Evening: Explore the notorious Piccadilly Circus, sometimes described as the Times Square of London.

Friday, August 15:
9am Depart hotel
10am Visit the royal carriages at The Royal Mews
11am Witness the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace
Lunch in the area
1pm Tour the London residence of the UK monarch at Buckingham Palace
Afternoon: Visit the famous domed wonder of St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Evening: River walk along the banks of the Thames; (optional) Continue to Trafalgar Square

Saturday, August 16:
Excursion Day! We’re taking a trip to the city of dreaming Spires with a famous university: Oxford. Travel to one of the wonders of the world, Stonehenge. Then we are off to Windsor Castle, the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world.

Sunday, August 17:
Morning: Visit The Tower of London, the historic castle on the north bank of the Thames River. See the iconic suspension Tower Bridge.
Take the late afternoon train to Paris.

Monday, August 18:
9am We’re headed to the Louvre, home to Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa! The Louvre is considered the world’s greatest art museum, with an unparalleled collection!
Next, we’re off to Sainte-Chapelle, the finest royal chapel in France, featuring an exceptional collection of stained-glass windows.
Tour the Conciergerie. Discover this Medieval royal palace that became a revolutionary tribunal and Marie-Antoinette’s prison.
See the Notre Dame Cathedral.
Pay tribute at the Memorial des Martyrs de la Deportation, a memorial to the 200,000 people who were deported from Vichy France to the Nazi concentration camps during World War II.
Stand in the shadow, then stand on the top of the Arc de Triomphe, the biggest arch in the world. Commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 to celebrate his victory at Austerlitz. At the top, you’ll enjoy a panoramic view of Paris.

Tuesday, August 19: 
9am Start the day with a stroll into Eglise Saint-Sulpice Church and through Luxembourg Gardens.
We’ll then visit/experience to the Pantheon.
Off to the Opera (House) Garnier and have lunch at The Galleries Lafayette.
End the day with a walk down Champs Elysees and see The Petit and Grand Palias

Wednesday, August 20: 
9am Depart hotel for a visit at Napoleon’s Tomb in the heart of Paris, alongside Le Dome des Invalides, and the Army Museum of French Military.
Discover a true Parisian past time at Rue Cler Market, one of the most authentic market streets in Paris.
View Paris from The Sacred Heart Basilica of Montmartre, or Sacre-Coeur, a Roman Catholic church and a famous landmark in Paris. The site is Paris highest natural point
Explore the iconic Eiffel Tower. Built as a centerpiece of the 1889 World’s fair designed to celebrate the centennial of the French Revolution.
We’ll finish the day with a lovely cruise up and down the river Seine!

Thursday, August 21:  
9am depart hotel
Tour the Palace of Versailles.  Marvel at the lavish palace and gardens of what was the official residence of the French monarchy from 1682 to 1789. Witness the Palace’s Hall of Mirrors, admire the fountain-studded gardens, and visit Marie-Antoinette’s Estate, with her romanticized village. See some opulent carriages at the Coach Gallery. Majestic coaches and small carriages for Marie-Antoinette’s children, sedan chairs and sleds make up a strange and wonderful collection.

Friday, August 22:
Take a poignant day trip from Paris to visit Normandy and the WWII D-Day landing beaches.
You’ll visit:
American Cemetery: See how far and wide the white crosses span here to visualize just how many soldiers sacrificed themselves to end Hitler
Omaha Beach: 
ground zero for American D-Day history
Pointe du Hoc: 100-foot cliff overlooking the English Channel located between Utah and Omaha Beach.  Still scarred with bomb craters. U.S. Army’s 2nd Rangers assaulted the  cliffs of on June 6, 1944, where 6 German cannons were located and taken out.
Longues-sur-Mer battery: situated between the Omaha and Gold landing beaches, consists of four gun installations used by the German troops on D-Day
Arromanches: Center of Gold Beach (British Landing site) and home of the Mulberry Harbors, the artificial harbors built by the British that played a key role in defeating Nazi Germany
Overload Museum: Chronicles the period of the Allied landing until the liberation of Paris. The collection was collected by someone who was both a witness to the conflict and involved in the reconstruction of Normandy.

Trip Assurance is available for $300 per person.
With Trip Assurance, if you have to cancel because of a medical condition or death in your immediate family less than 120-days prior to the trip, we’ll refund 40% of your payment; plus you’ll receive another 40% of your payment in the form of a future trip credit, minus the Trip Assurance charge.

General
Itinerary and hotels are subject to change. Alternatives may be offered due to closure or unexpected events.
Tour prices are subject to increased rate until booked with a deposit.
Booking a tour indicates you have read and agree with the terms.

Air Travel
Air fare is booked at Economy class group rate. Upgrades may be requested at additional cost.
One carry-on bag, meeting the airline specifications, is included in the trip price.
Additional charges for checked bags may be imposed by the airline and is the responsibility of the traveler.
Airlines may change departure times and/or layover sites. Please check the status one day prior to the flight.

Ground Transportation
Ground transportation is provided by air-conditioned motor coach.
Seat rotation is not enforced.
If you need special accommodations or have concerns during the trip,  please speak with the host and every effort will be made to make suitable arrangements.
All items brought onto the motor coach must be kept clear of the aisle.
Please ensure luggage brought on the motor coach is not excessive and allows for all passengers to be accommodated.

Hotel Accommodations
Hotels are subject to change based on availability at time of reservation.
Elevators are not guaranteed at all properties.
Traveler is responsible for his/her luggage and may have to walk a short distance with their bag.

All tours require some walking and traveler is responsible for their own luggage. Please request help from the host if needed.
