Spencer, IA (Northwest Iowa Now) — The Spencer Fire Department was called to another house fire late Monday afternoon.

When firefighters arrived at 1710 4th Ave. West in Spencer light smoke could be seen coming from the home. After entering through the back door, the fire was quickly located in the kitchen on the stove. Crews remained on scene to check for fire extension into the walls and ventilate smoke. The kitchen sustained light fire damage and moderate smoke damage.

It is always recommonded while cooking, to remain in the kitchen when frying, boiling, or grilling food and remember to turn off the stove.

The Spencer Fire Department was assisted at the scene by the Spencer Police Department and Spencer Municipal Utilities.
