Spencer, IA (Northwest Iowa Now) — LifeServe Blood Center is hosting a couple of Blood Drives in Spencer this month.

The first Blood Drive is Monday, March 17th from 1 to 6pm at the First Congregational Church in Spencer. The second Blood Drive will be Tuesday, March 25th at Spencer Hospital from 9:45am to 1pm.

The recent winter weather has significantly impacted blood supply. The blood types that are critically low right now include O-positive; O-negative; A-negative; and AB-negative. LifeServe Blood Center is the sole provider of blood products for hospitals in the region. By donating blood at any of these two upcoming events, is ensures that local hospitals will have the resources they need to treat patients in need of life-saving care.

Area hospitals who receive blood products are in Spencer, Spirit Lake, Emmetsburg, Sheldon, Sioux Center and Storm Lake.
