Jackson, MN (Northwestiowanow.com) — Parents of Jackson County Central school students were informed of two situations last week. On Wednesday, Superintendent Barry Schmidt said school official became aware of multiple verbal altercations that had ocurred the previous week, and other students said they heard a rumor about a “hit list” and the threat of violence. Police were called to investigate and found no credible evidence.
On Friday, Schmidt had to inform the public that a Middle School student fired a cap gun at school. Even though cap guns do not fire projectiles it was a violation of the school district’s zero tolerance for guns and the student faces disciplinary action.
Schmidt says the two incidents were not related.
