Des Moines, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — The State Auditor’s Office has completed the yearly review of the books in Palo Alto County. Revenue fells from 24.1 million dollars in the 2023 fiscal year to 21.5 million last year. Rob Sands’ office says the previous year’s spending included nearly 1.5 million dollars in federal covid money, and a hefty number of assessments for drainage district work.
Total spending held nearly even at 17 million 392 thousand dollars. The county finishes the year with 63 million dollars in assets and reserve funds, up from just slightly under 59 million dollars the prioer period.
All governmental agencies must be audited every year. They have the choice whether to hire an intendent auditor or the state of Iowa.
