Cherokee, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — There was ANOTHER instance of damage from straight-line winds in Northwest Iowa Monday night. This time – Cherokee County Emergency Management Director Justin Pritts says – it struck there.

Pritts says the only building damage he’s aware of is that the roof of The Whiskey Throttle Steakhouse on the South edge of Cherokee was ripped completely off.
The city of Cherokee is picking up branches if homeowners can get them to the curb.
The wind damage comes nearly exactly one year after Cherokee was hit with last year’s catastrophic flood. The National Weather service tells us there were 66 mile per hour winds in Quimby and Meriden, and 68 miles per hour in Webb in Clay County.
